The beginning of an Era
A blog to help the youth
One of my dreams is to build a college like facility for teens that are homeless and still in school. One of the biggest things to get me through high school was the fact that I needed to get decent grades to be able to play college tennis, and further my education. According to the Covenant House 40% of homelessness in the United States are people under the age of 18. Sometimes, teens are put through a lot that they did not ask for and the last thing that they are worried about is school, or getting into college. My goal is to be able to help these kids find joy and excitement for their future again. I want to be able to provide housing for teens that are homeless or in a very bad living situation. The housing system would be based around like a college dorm, where the kids would have different tasks to complete to be able to stay there. But it is much more than just housing, I want to incorporate tutors and athletic facilities to help these kids find their way into college. Sometimes having a greater purpose is what makes your future exciting. By being able to help these kids either reach their dreams athletically or academically they will graduate high school with a sense of purpose. With the help of mentors and tutors and on site families, I want these kids to know that they are not alone and even though their situation might not be ideal God has a bigger plan for their life.
